Often the dog is a reluctant guest but if introduced early enough with a short play session where the grooming table, hair dryers and a brush can be ignored a less stressful environment can be created.

It enables the groomer to get to know the dog and vice versa. Soon the puppy will be ready for the next step – a quick bath and dry on the table which also introduces the pup to the brush and comb.

Before you know it you not only have a beautifully groomed dog but also one that is socialised and confident.

I believe that these sessions are just as important as obedience classes and should be used in conjunction with other kinds of training to introduce a range of experiences to the pup that will equip the adult dog to be a well mannered and happy canine companion.
